WEB WAREHOUSE MAKES LIFE EASY AT TRICO WITH ONLINE ACCESS
In a pleasant late November surprise, purchaser Joyce Treiber from Trico Lighting Products shared some positive Web Warehouse feedback with us and we would like to share what she had to say:
"I use [Martech's] Web Warehouse site almost every day," she exclaimed. "It's so quick for us, you can see the price and stock at the same time. Creating orders is fast and quick. TRANSFERRING MARTECH'S CALGARY WAREHOUSE TO EDMONTON
Martech is streamlining our Warehouse Operations to increase our level of effectiveness. As such, the daily shipping functions provided by our Calgary warehouse location are being transferred to Edmonton. Martech's presence in Calgary will continue in the form of a sales and education office and smaller special-order shipping location.
In December of 2010, Martech moved into our new Edmonton office and warehouse space. We have 238% more square feet of warehouse space and 598% more pallet locations in Edmonton than Calgary and our Edmonton warehouse team is shipping 88% of their orders the same day at an accuracy rate of 99.99% (over the past 24 months).
Our Edmonton shipping location also has multiple workers (a warehouse team) with longer available hours for shipping and an improved warehouse layout for more efficient order picking and product movement. Combined, these features will result in higher warehouse throughput and better delivery service for all our Western Canadian customers.
Attention customers in Southern Alberta: Link-Seal® modular seals and Hymax® pipe couplings will now be shipping out of our Edmonton Warehouse.
We will be transferring inventory from Calgary to Edmonton over the next two weeks and our Inside Sales team will be in close communication for each of your orders to help manage the transition.
BIG SUCCESS AND LOTS OF FUN AT PRO AV GOLF TOURNAMENT
We have a nice little retrospective video on YouTube showing the participation at the Pro AV Golf Tournament. Our aim was to increase brand awareness for Martech with a memorable golf hole (which we accomplished).
Our hole-in-one prize was a BRAND NEW 2011 Aston Martin DBS but unfortunately no one won the car. None of our four competitors were able to sink a hole-in-one at the end-of-tournament shootout, but they enjoyed the opportunity and everyone had a good time watching.

The beta release of our Web Warehouse site opened in the fall of 2008. Since then, we have:

NATALIE LACHANCE ON THE BENEFITS FROM MARTECH'S WEB WAREHOUSE
EMCO's Natalie Lachance, featured Web Warehouse user
Last week, purchasing dynamo Natalie Lachance gave us an opportunity to learn about why she makes a habit of using her supplier's online ordering and tracking tools.
The Kapuskasing-come-Edmonton inventory management expert first fell in love with busines-to-business web tools while working with the team responsible for Amre Supply's excellent online tools. Now a purchaser with EMCO, Natalie uses the web sites of her suppliers for making inventory queries, building quotes and submitting and tracking orders.
"You know what's in stock, you know what you're paying for it and you know when you're going to get it" said Natalie of Martech's Web Warehouse. Building an order is easy for Natalie because she can save a shopping cart as a quote then add to it later. "I wish people doing a project would build a quote online and save it for me. Then converting it to a purchase order would be extremely fast!"
Natalie says entering an order with the web site means "less room for errors, faxing an order may have keying errors on the other end." She points out that "if I do it myself, I have no doubt about what product and quantity I'm ordering. When I submit a PO on the web site, I know that their stock is instantly allocated to my order, I don't have to wait for an order entry person to put in my order manually."
Natalie tracks orders that are on the way and she looks to see if something has arrived, even if the receiver in the warehouse doesn't realize it. Using the Web Warehouse means she "doesn't have to use the phone and wait for someone to give me information".
At the close of our lunch-time interview, I asked Natalie if she would recommend our Web Warehouse to others. "You're doing a pretty good job with the web site," she responded positively, "I'm surprised the guys in Calgary haven't caught on to this yet!"

To prevent the waste of the Earth's precious natural resources, Martech has switched to a paper and cardboard recycling program!
